Three Books to Inspire You for Spring

I don’t know about you, but when the beginning of the year rolls around, I always start getting excited for spring! The main thing that gets me looking forward to the joys of springtime is choosing flower seeds for my garden. If you also love planning out a garden—in addition to planning out your to-be-read list—then I have the perfect books for you!

UNEARTHING THE SECRET GARDEN

The gardens and stories behind Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic novel come to life in Unearthing the Secret Garden by Marta McDowell. It’s such a fascinating read full of anecdotes about Burnett’s life and the plants she loved, in addition to providing an interesting background for the events that led to The Secret Garden’s existence.

TASHA TUDOR’S GARDEN

The next book I’m featuring has another link to The Secret Garden, albeit less obvious. The illustrator of the most popular edition of the book was Tasha Tudor, and this is the story of her personal gardens! Tovah Martin chronicles a year in Tasha’s gardening life, and the result is whimsical and inspiring. She had an affinity for gorgeous blooms, secretive paths, and the occasional Corgi rambling through. 🙂 It’s kind of impossible not to want to garden after reading this book!

THE LANDSCAPES OF ANNE OF GREEN GABLES

The Landscapes of Anne of Green Gables by Catherine Reid is a stunningly photographed biography of L.M. Montgomery viewed through the lens of her deep connection to nature.
