Ohh, I love Heidi so much! Which reminds me that it’s about due time I do a reread with it 💛. I haven’t heard of the other books you listed, but I’ll definitely be checking them out!

I love that you mentioned classics like Heidi, but still found enjoyment in stories for younger readers like Franklin Endicott and the Third Key! Thank you for putting together this list, I’ll be visiting your posts for more recommendations!

I read The Library of Unruly Treasures this fall and just loved it. I also listened to the audio of Heidi for the first time, back in the spring and enjoyed it as well. I haven’t read any of these others, but will look for them. Thanks for the recommendations!

I did love YOURS TRULY, but none of these that have done super well with my students. I did have a conversation about Heidi with a student who is working her way through the ANNE OF GREEN GABLES books, but she’s the first student in 15 years to make it past the first book. I wonder why older generations of readers loved historical fiction so much, and today’s readers have to be actively persuaded to pick it up.
